The Renewable Taos Lecture Series Presents Luis Reyes of Kit Carson Electric and William Brown of Renewable Taos
A Discussion on the Future of Energy in North Central New Mexico at KTAOS Solar Center, November 7, 2013
TAOS, N.M., Oct. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Renewable Taos, a Renewable Energy non-profit and Sol Luna Solar, integrator of photovoltaic and Solar Thermal Radiant systems; are proud to host the 3(rd) installment in the Renewable Taos Lecture Series on November 7, 2013 at the KTAOS Solar Center from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
The event titled, ‘Renewable Energy in North Central New Mexico: A discussion with Luis Reyes and William Brown,’ will examine the current Renewable Energy capacity in the area and pose questions for the future of renewables in North Central New Mexico. Roberta Salazar, Executive Director at Rivers and Birds, will moderate the evening’s discussion.
In addition to keynote speakers, Luis Reyes and William Brown; Mark Johnson, Vice-President of Sol Luna Solar, and Nichole Koontz, South West Regional Sales Manager at Canadian Solar Inc. and Director of Technology at Az4Solar.org will introduce the event. Mark and Nichole are at the center of very dramatic technological and price improvements in solar energy.
The event takes place only a few weeks after the announcement of Solar Electric Power Association’s (SEPA) 2013 Utility of the Year Award. This year’s award was presented to Luis Reyes of Kit Carson Electric Cooperative in recognition of its leadership in solar energy. Several large solar arrays located in the KCEC service area provide clean renewable energy to Kit Carson customers. Notable among these is the first Community Solar installation in New Mexico, the 98kw array at the Taos Charter School.
Sol Luna Solar constructed the Taos Charter School Community Solar Array with the Clean Energy Collective of Colorado and in partnership with Kit Carson. This array allows Kit Carson members who cannot locate solar panels at their homes or businesses to purchase panels in a centrally located array. The efficiency and cost savings achieved by community solar promise it a bright place in the future of renewable energy.
According to Bob Bresnahan, one of the founders of Renewable Taos, “Our Lecture Series could not take place without support of companies like Sol Luna Solar. Taos has a wonderful group of solar vendors who are dedicated and committed to a clean energy future. The talent, skills and dedication of these men and women are real assets of our community.”
Sol Luna Solar provides local Solar Thermal Radiant, Solar Hot Water and Photovoltaic installation for the Taos, Espanola, and Santa Fe areas. With over 30 years of experience and licenses in general construction, mechanical (plumbing), and electrical, Sol Luna Solar has become a trusted installer for Northern New Mexico and is a proud supporter of events like the Renewable Taos Lecture Series.
