With preparations already underway, Dragone Auctions announces their pre-holiday auction sale featuring classics from the Thomas Kerr “Packard” collection located at their showroom and gallery in Westport, Connecticut. Thomas Kerr is known for his 40 year quest to buy the best classic era Packards to exist today.
A 1930 Packard 734 Speedster Runabout and a 1930 Packard 734 Speedster Phaeton formerly owned by the well respected classic car collector, George Jepson are just a few extremely rare classics that will be showcased at our 2013 Winter Auction. These Packard speedsters are 2 out of 15 original speedsters of all body styles to exist today, making them extremely rare, so it’s truly a rarity to have two of these Packard speedsters up for sale at one event. Also included in Kerr’s collection, is a 1934 Packard 1107 coupe roadster, a 1929 Packard 645 roadster, coachwork by Dietrich, which was restored to Concours standards, along with a half a dozen more beautiful Packards. In addition, also for sale, a 1920 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost with custom coachwork by Barker stored away in a San Francisco garage since 1937. This Silver Ghost is considered by experts to be one of the most original untouched examples known to exist in the world today.
Some of our other featured classics include an all original, untouched conditioned 1934 LaSalle convertible coupe with a rumble seat that was stored away for many years in a barn. This 1934 LaSalle is one of the great iconic Harley Earl designs with art deco discs on the hood and bi-plane bumpers. In addition, a collection of six 1931-1933 Chrysler LeBaron Custom Imperials including; a 1933 CL Sport Phaeton, a 1931 CG LeBaron Convertible Coupe, a 1932 CL LeBaron Convertible Sedan and a 1931 LeBaron Roadster and Dual-Cowl Phaeton. Among the historic cars is a 1921 Brewster originally owned and used by First Lady, Jackie Kennedy Onassis’s grandmother, Mrs. H.D. Auchincloss and stored at her residence at the famous Hammersmith Farm in Rhode Island. This is a formal car that speaks directly to the classic era of the roaring twenties and has 27,000 original miles since new. Along with the sale of this historic automobile comes a letter sent from the Brewster Company written directly to Mrs. Auchincloss’s chauffeur.
The Dragone brothers have spent the past 35 years and will continue searching for rare hidden away motoring treasures that have never been offered for sale before. Their auction on December 7(th) will be the second sale for this year at Dragone Classic Motorcars, Inc. in Westport, Connecticut. On Friday, December 6(th) they offer an all day preview of the classics that will be for sale on auction day starting at 10:00am, followed by a cocktail party at 6:00pm to celebrate the following day’s event with classic car collectors, prospective bidders and friends. This auction promises to offer a remarkable group of cars that have not been seen in decades. “This is a must attend sale for any true classic car enthusiast,” stated Manny Dragone.
