LMT Club Releases “2013 Global Travel Trends Report”
The “2013 Global Travel Trends Report” provides insight from more than 2,600 survey respondents into preferred vacation types, booking preferences, hotel selection criteria and more. It also includes strategies for consumers and businesses to snag the best hotel prices. Key findings include:
-- Inside the Traveler: More people travel for personal reasons than business ones. In fact, 99% of survey respondents said they take at least one personal trip each year, compared to only 52% on the business side. -- The Hotel Lies at the Heart of Travel: A little more than half (53%) of survey respondents indicated that they book a hotel for more than 90% of their trips. Eighty-seven percent of LMT Club's transactions in the past 12 months included a hotel. -- Hotel Brands Don't Matter: Only 4% of individuals cited hotel brand as their top-deciding factor when booking. Price (39%), promotions (18%) and location (18%) are the three decision factors that matter most to customers. -- Booking Preferences: Today's travelers are much more flexible and tech savvy when it comes to their booking preferences. The overwhelming majority (90%) of people said they prefer to book trips online. Half of travelers book their flights seven days or less than departure, and half book hotels 15 days or less.
