Seed treatment refers to application of chemical or biological active ingredients to
the seeds, which is done before seed packaging. Seeds are coated with fungicides,
insecticides or with a combination of these to disinfect them from soil borne pathogenic
organisms and storage insects. Seed treatment method is more effective and cost efficient
than spraying of pesticides directly on plants, as the quantity required is less and hence

heat and drought.
