Toyota of Naperville hosting teen driver safety clinic
Clinic is part of driver safety initiative
NAPERVILLE, Ill., April 21, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — The life of a teenager is filled with so many milestones. The one that is, arguably, most coveted is getting a driver’s license. Few other events in a teen’s life carry the joy of being given expanded freedoms while also being handed the weight of the responsibility that goes with all of it. Several studies focused on teen driving behaviors have shown that the first 12-18 months a new driver is on the road is the most dangerous time, accounting for a bulk of the accidents and fatalities that a teen may experience. This is why Toyota Motor Sales is hosting their Toyota Free Teen Driver Safety Program at Toyota of Naperville on May 18. There will be two sessions held that day, at 9:30 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m.
Toyota of Naperville has a long history of helping with drivers’ educations classes by regularly hosting students from the local high schools to come to the dealership for some extra insight. The Toyota teen driving clinic that will be posted there is both another excellent example and extension of the dealership’s commitment to giving back to its community. The Toyota instructors that will be on hand for the clinic represent some of the best driving teachers from around the country and as a combined unit, represent hundreds of years of driving instruction and knowledge.
A bulk of the Toyota Free Teen Driver Safety Program will focused on lessons for the newly licensed driver as well as those who have received their learner’s permit. The teen drivers in attendance will have the benefit of learning from highly interactive displays that will keep them engaged and actively learning about topics such as basic vehicle maintenance, the importance of defensive driving and an overview of a vehicle’s performance as well as the safety features. Additionally, there is a great deal of information for parents and guardians at this driver safety clinic as well. Parents will get tips on how they can become better coaches and driving role models for their teen drivers through the use of games while both are in the car, in lieu of lectures that may not reach teenagers. Most importantly parents and teen drivers will work together to build a driving rules and expectations contract that will lay everything on the line so it is understood by teens as well as parents.
The Toyota Free Teen Driver Safety Program will be held May 18, at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at Toyota of Naperville, located at 1488 West Ogden Avenue, Naperville, IL, 60540. Anyone planning on attending the program can register online or over the phone by calling 844-242-3363. Each teen must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and all are asked to arrive at the dealership at least 15 minutes before the program starts to allow for time to check in with the instructors.
