NAPW Announces Alicia Anderson-Brown, Director of Drug Court Treatment at Lexington Richland Alcohol & Drugs Abuse Council, as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year

The National Association of Professional Women honors Alicia Anderson-Brown as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in drug abuse counseling. As the largest, most-recognized organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 400 Local Chapters.

Working in the field of alcohol and drug addiction for more than 27 years, Ms. Anderson-Brown has spent nearly 20 of those years as a Director. Since 2006, she has held the key position of Director of Drug Court Treatment at the Lexington Richland Alcohol & Drugs Abuse Council (LRADAC). There, she is responsible for overseeing, supervising and monitoring all treatment services provided by three drug court programs for clients and their families.
“My supervisory skills incorporate fairness, constancy, teamwork and respect for individual qualities and capabilities,” Ms. Anderson-Brown says. “Creatively, I have the ability to create programming to match diverse populations and think outside the box.”
In addition, she shares her skills and knowledge with graduate students as an adjunct professor at Webster University. She provides effective substance abuse counseling techniques and trauma, crisis and emergency relief counseling to help prepare them for working with diverse populations. A published author, Ms. Anderson-Brow n is working on two other books and conducting research for her dissertation while working toward her Ph.D.
