NAPW Announces Theresa Markey, Associate Director of Consumer, Medicinal Products, Johnson & Johnson, Consumer Products Co., as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year

The National Association of Professional Women honors Theresa L. Markey as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Markey is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in business. “My professional life has been driven by a desire to ensure the safety of medicines when used appropriately,” says Ms. Markey, Associate Director of Consumer Medicinal Products at Office of Consumer Medical Safety, Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products Co. Recently promoted, Ms. Markey oversees the pharmacovigilance operations staff that is responsible for proper regulatory and compliance processes required to ensure consumers’ safety.
Ms. Markey has more than 30 years of experience in the pharmacovigilance field. During her tenure at Johnson & Johnson she held the position of Manager, Global Pharmacovigilance at its Pharmaceutical Research Institute in Raritan, NJ. Previously, she worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb as well as other leading pharmaceutical companies and was a Senior Research Associate at Cornell University Medical College.
Born in Mallorca, Spain, Ms. Markey has been exposed to many diverse cultures during her time living, studying and working abroad. “I am no stranger to traveling. I attended school in France, Italy, Colombia and the US, and managed outsource provides in India and Philippines,” says Ms. Markey. She has an M.B.A. in International Business and Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University and Wroxton College of the United Kingdom.
