Genuine Mahogany Is the Green Choice for Decking

July 1, 2014

TORONTO, July 1, 2014 /CNW/ – Recently, a once-familiar hardwood decking
– more specifically mahogany decking – has returned to Toronto,
Muskoka, Aurora, Oakville, Mississauga, and all of Ontario. A green
hardwood, Swietenia Macrophylla is plantation grown. Mahogany lumber
takes hardwood stain; all Fijian mahogany is excellent outdoor
hardwood. Green World Lumber offers a great new option to support
eco-friendly building choices that frequently complement nature-minded
lifestyle.

Our staff is representing plantation grown genuine mahogany as
sustainable source of hardwood decking. Mahogany wood is one of the
most stable timbers on the market makes it perfect for docks and
near-water decks. Mahogany decking is ideal for both high above ground
and close to ground decks due to its intrinsic hardiness. It can also
be used for wooden patios. Genuine Mahogany accepts stains, oils, and
other finishes.

“Genuine mahogany lumber offers Canadians an alternative to species that
are supporting widespread harvesting of natural/virgin rainforests all
over the world,” says Taylor Willson. “Mahogany decking will make it
easier to be environmentally responsible while enhancing an outdoor
lifestyle without harming the environments. Hardwood decking like
mahogany decking which uptakes hardwood stain is extremely durable and
weatherproof.”

From best part of the Swietenia Macrophylla tree

Genuine mahogany decking is manufactured from Swietenia Macrophylla
trees, which is the most premium tropical species for use as hardwood
decking. This species, of the Meliaceae family, was discovered in South
America more than 5 centuries ago and has been used as a building
material for the past century until it was harvested to near
extinction. Foreseeing a dire future shortage of genuine mahogany, and
having great reverence for the wood, Allied fleets facilitated a
massive amounts of Genuine Mahogany seeds to be taken from Honduras and
planted on the island of Fiji, across the South Pacific Ocean. Fijian
genuine mahogany was thus cultivated for the benefit of all people.

Leading the way

Green World Lumber is leading the way in bringing genuine mahogany
hardwood decking to the market, decking sustainably derived from
plantations on the island of Fiji. There are comprehensive
peer-reviewed, published reports concerning the sustainability of
Fijian plantations ensuring that this lumber remains CITES exempt and
available to the Canadian market indefinitely.

Mahogany lumber is already the number one decking product in the natural
plantation hardwood decking category in Australia and the United
Kingdom. Mahogany decking is also available in the United States and
select European countries.
