National telephone press conference to focus on public hearings in Atlanta, Denver, Washington, D.C., and Pittsburgh on the proposed first-ever limits on carbon pollution from power plants

WASHINGTON, July 25, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — With historic public hearings fast approaching, clean air leaders will hold a national telephone press conference on July 28, 2014 discussing benefits from the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Power Plan on public health, wildlife, jobs and the climate. Green For All will reveal the results of a poll on how African American, Latino and Asian likely voters from key battleground states (FL, GA, MI, NV, NC, OH, TX, and VA) view climate change and carbon pollution standards.

In June, the EPA proposed the first-ever carbon pollution standards for the nation’s existing power plants. The standards will help ensure that power plants are no longer allowed to dump unlimited amounts of carbon pollution, the main cause of climate change, into our air. Climate change is already putting American’s health at risk by contributing to more extreme weather events and worse air quality.

The EPA is holding daylong public hearings on the climate action proposal July 29 & 30 in Denver, Atlanta and Washington, D.C.; and on July 30 and August 1 in Pittsburgh.
