Celtic Fans Face Pilots’ Strike Blow
CELTIC supporters heading to Portugal for tomorrow night’s Euro clash could face delays due to a pilots’ strike.
Thousands of fans are making the trip to Lisbon to see their team play Benfica in the Champions League, but national airline TAP Air Portugal said around 500 pilots were likely to strike, which would hit services over the next few days.
The strikes have been called over government plans to increase the retirement age for members of the Civil Aviation Pilots’ Union from 60 to 65. Up to 7000 fans are due to fly out for the clash, although many will be on charter flights.
Three left Glasgow Airport this morning flew out almost on time, with only a 40-minute delay for one service.
