Yuan wins second title for China at Asian Indoor Games
MACAO, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) — Yuan Haifeng of China took the second gold medal for China in the 25-meter short course finswimming at the 2007 Asian Indoor Games after he won the men’s 50 meters event here on Saturday night.
The 25-year-old Yuan clocked 16.04 seconds, 0.16 seconds ahead of Hideaki Sakai of Japan.
“Sakai is a good swimmer, I lost to him before,” said Yuan after the game. “But I beat him to take the gold medal tonight. I am happy about that. I am in good shape today.”
South Korea’s Kim Tae-Kyun placed third with 16.32 seconds.
Early on Saturday, Xu Huanshan crowned in the women’s 50 metersevent to claim the first gold medal for China in the Asian Indoor Games.
“Someone told me that Xu had the first gold medal for China before my finals. I am happy on that and I told myself that I could also win a gold, fortunately I did it.” said Yuan.
