GERMANTOWN, Md., Oct. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Hughes Network Systems, LLC (Hughes), the global leader in broadband satellite solutions and services, today announced that its European operating company, HNS Europe, is supplying leading Czech telecommunications provider GiTy with its latest generation HN broadband satellite system, comprising a Network Operations Center (NOC) and over 500 HN7000S broadband satellite terminals.

Installation of the network began in early September with completion scheduled for early November 2007. The network will be used to provide broadband Internet/intranet access for public libraries in the Czech Republic.

“We are dedicated to providing leading edge telecommunications services to meet the demands of our customers in many sectors from government agencies to petrol station chains, banking, energy, and highway traffic control,” said Valentin Girstl, president of GiTy. “Hughes has been providing us with satellite networking equipment since 1995 and we are pleased to be continuing this long and fruitful relationship.”

The HN System is designed for service providers and enterprises with small initial network requirements, yet is readily expandable as service demand justifies. A highly efficient architecture incorporates numerous advanced features, including guaranteed quality of service levels. Being fully compliant with the DVB-S2/IPoS air interface standard including the Adaptive Coding Modulation (ACM) feature, means the coding and modulation of the HN System’s outbound channel can be configured for each remote HN7000S terminal, resulting in optimal transmission efficiency. This enables an operator to realize up to 50% throughput increase over the DVB-S specification. Since introducing this capability in mid 2006, Hughes has shipped more than 300,000 terminals worldwide compliant with DVB-S2/IPoS and ACM.

“Hughes is proud to be expanding our relationship with GiTy, building upon our many years of working together,” said Luigi Pagni, vice president, HNS Europe. “We first provided narrowband equipment to GiTy in 1995 and upgraded to broadband in 2002. This latest contract reinforces Hughes leadership in delivering the industry’s latest technology products.”
