Alaska Airlines is planning to launch year-round service to Lihue on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, claiming to be the only airline to fly the route nonstop.

Alaska launched Seattle- Honolulu service recently and will begin Anchorage-Honolulu service on December 9.

Gregg Saretsky, Alaska Airlines’ executive vice president of flight and marketing, said: “Prized for its dramatic beauty, the island of Kauai is one of Hawaii’s most popular destinations, making this new route the perfect complement to our new Honolulu service. Customers from the Pacific Northwest now have a convenient way to visit the ‘garden isle’ without having to change planes.”

The new flights will be operated with Boeing 737-800 aircraft, accommodating 16 passengers in first class and 141 in the main cabin.
