PPL EnergyPlus Enters Retail Gas Supply Business for Commercial and Industrial Customers

ALLENTOWN, Pa., Oct. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- PPL EnergyPlus, a subsidiary of PPL Corporation , has begun offering retail natural gas to commercial and industrial customers in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware.
"With our significant experience in the gas business, we can offer real value to customers who choose us for their natural gas supply," said Joe Hopf, president of PPL EnergyPlus. "The retail business is a natural extension of our wholesale gas operations, and a natural complement to our electricity marketing and trading business."
Natural gas service comes in two parts -- supply and delivery. PPL EnergyPlus is offering gas supply. Customers who buy their gas from PPL EnergyPlus would still have it delivered by their local natural gas distribution company.
"PPL EnergyPlus has an excellent track record of competitive prices and solid service to customers," Hopf said. The addition of retail gas supply is part of the effort to grow the value of the PPL EnergyPlus marketing and trading operations, he said.
PPL EnergyPlus will be contacting large industrial and commercial customers such as factories, school districts, government operations and hospitals to discuss their natural gas needs, Hopf said.
