Kazakhstan, China to Boost Cooperation in Nuclear Fuel Production

Almaty, 8 November: Astana and Beijing intend to expand cooperation in the area of biotechnologies and the use of uranium resources. Agreements to this effect were signed in the capital of Kazakhstan today following a meeting of the fourth Kazakh-Chinese committee for cooperation.
Chinese Vice-Premier Wu Yi noted following the meeting that currently there is “the steady and healthy development of bilateral relations” between China and Kazakhstan, and “mutual political trust and cooperation are strengthening”.
Among the documents signed are a memorandum on strengthening cooperation in the area of biotechnologies between the Kazakh Ministry of Education and Science and the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology.
Moreover, an agreement was concluded between the Kazatomprom national atomic company and the China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNPC) on the joint use of uranium resources and the production of nuclear fuel and atomic energy.
