Macquarie Wants Constructive Ties With Japan Airport Terminal
Tokyo, Nov. 12 (Jiji Press)–Macquarie Airports Management Ltd. hopes to build constructive and mutually beneficial ties with Japan Airport Terminal Co. , Macquarie Airports’ chief executive officer said Monday.
Macquarie Airports has no plans to raise its stake in Japan Airport Terminal from the current 19.9 pct, Kerrie Mather told a news conference here.
Japan Airport Terminal, operator of the terminal buildings of Tokyo International Airport at Haneda, has rules allowing itself to invoke takeover defense measures against an unsolicited bid for a stake of 20 pct or higher.
Mather said Macquarie Airports, a unit of Australian investment bank Macquarie Group, will not take a hostile approach when pursuing ties with the Japanese company.
Japan Airport Terminal is an ideal investment target because it has excellent facilities, Mather said. She plans to meet with the management of the Japanese company on Tuesday.
Macquarie Airports, which has some 850 billion yen worth of funds under management, has four airports, including those in Sydney and Brussels.END
