French utility EDF Energies Nouvelles has announced that the Luc-sur-Orbieu wind farm located in the Aude department in the south of France has now officially entered service.
The eight wind turbines were supplied by German manufacturer REpower. Of the 16MW in total installed capacity, 4MW has been sold as part of EDF Energies Nouvelles's development and sale of structured assets segment.
The wind farm has received active support from the municipal authorities in Luc-Sur-Orbieu and Ornaisons. Located in the middle of vineyards in a wine-growing region, the wind farm was the subject of a great deal of consultation with local industry players, in particularly the AOC Corbieres wine union and the Ornaisons wine co-operative.
