B&G Foods Improves Customer Satisfaction With CHEP Pallets
B&G Foods, a fast-growing marketer of branded grocery products, has announced it is shipping all unit loads on pallets from the CHEP pooling program effective immediately. The company is now using CHEP pallets to transport its Ac’cent, B&G, B&M, Cream of Rice, Cream of Wheat, Emeril’s, Grandma’s Molasses, Maple Grove Farms, Ortega, Polaner, Trappey’s and other product lines from its production facilities to supermarkets, mass merchants, food service distributors, and club stores nationwide.
B&G Foods has long cycle times with its seasonal products and had previously used one-way pallets instead of renting pallets. A combination of a lower total cost for the CHEP pallet pooling solution and advocacy from several customers convinced the company to make the move.
“We’ve known about the quality and productivity benefits of the CHEP program for a long time, and are now experiencing them first hand. Our customers love the program and B&G is all about pleasing the retailers and foodservice distributors we serve,” said Greg Theile, Vice President of Logistics at B&G Foods.
B&G Foods is now implementing the CHEP program a few brands at a time and is already seeing efficiency improvements.
“The move by B&G Foods shows that even companies that store products on pallets for long periods see efficiency and customer service gains from the CHEP program. We are committed to providing them with the support they need to make the most of our program,” said Tim Smith, Vice President, Business Development, CHEP USA.
