November 18, 2007
At least 28 people were reported dead as a result of a pipeline fire in eastern Saudi Arabia Sunday.
The blaze broke out on the Haradh-Uthmaniyah pipeline about 18 miles from the Hawiya Gas Plant, Saudi Aramco, the state oil conglomerate, told CNN.
The fire was brought under control and the gas supply was not interrupted, the BBC reported.
Hawiya, one of Saudi Arabia’s biggest gas processing plants, produces 1.4 billion cubic feet of gas daily, the company said.
