Angolan airlines records progress in implementing safety norms
LUANDA, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) — The Angolan Airlines (TAAG) announced at the weekend that it has recorded progress in the implementation of norms recommended by the Operational Safety Auditing (IOSA) of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as part of an audit conducted from Nov. 12 to 16.
In a press release issued in the Angolan capital Luanda, TAAG said “there is a great progress in the implementation of norms andpractices recommended by IOSA” although IATA considered the results as confidential.
According to the document, there are 908 norms and practices tobe implemented by airlines that adhered to the program. A pre-auditing towards TAAG was conducted last May.
IATA launched the auditing program in 2003 and airlines intending to continue in this association are invited to obtain the IOSA certificate until December 2008.
IOSA aims at securing the standardization of the civil aviationsector concerning the management and security of their operations.
