BluePoint Energy Approved By New York Independent System Operator As Demand Response Curtailment Service Provider
Posted on: Monday, 19 November 2007, 09:01 CST
Chapeau, Inc. d/b/a BluePoint Energy (OTCBB:CPEU) announced today that it has been approved to participate in the New York Independent System Operator's Emergency Load Response Programs as a Curtailment Service Provider. This expands BluePoint's presence on the East Coast to regions servicing over 70 million end use customers. The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) manages New York's electricity transmission grid, a 10,775-mile network of high-voltage lines carrying electricity throughout the state. The NYISO also oversees wholesale electricity markets where more than $50 billion has been transacted since 1999.
The NYISO's Emergency Demand Response Program (EDRP) is a short-notice program relying on the ability of many end-use customers, mostly industrial and commercial, to voluntarily reduce their demand for a short period of time. BluePoint Energy, as a NYISO Curtailment Service Provider, will act on behalf of end-use customers who wish to participate in the EDRP. The customers are paid by the NYISO for reducing energy consumption when asked to do so by the NYISO.
This agreement with the NYISO follows BluePoint Energy's recently announced agreement with PJM Interconnection, operator of the world's largest competitive wholesale electricity market ensuring the reliability of the largest centrally dispatched grid in the world, covering 13 states and the District of Columbia. BluePoint has also executed agreements with four other nationally recognized utilities and has an exclusive national development agreement for demand response management with an internationally-recognized leader in the hospitality industry.
BluePoint Energy's Demand Response Asset Aggregation Program (D-RAAP™) solution creates "virtual power plants" by providing centralized communication and dispatch control for a technological network of generation assets and building management systems, managed by our proprietary, Internet-based GenViewTM microprocessor control technology.
Guy A. Archbold, Chief Executive Officer of BluePoint Energy, stated, "This agreement with the New York Independent System Operator furthers BluePoint Energy's corporate mission to become a leading technology-based clean energy management provider of cost effective and environmentally sustainable energy solutions on both a national and international level."
Mr. Archbold concluded, "We believe our D-RAAP™ solution, integrating our proprietary Internet-based GenViewTM microprocessor control system designed to integrate generating assets with building management control systems, is uniquely different than curtailment alternatives currently available in the marketplace. Our capabilities will enable NYISO customers to participate in the EDRP and other demand response programs much more quickly and economically than with alternative suppliers."
