Northwest Airlines Provides Holiday Travel Tips

Posted on: Monday, 19 November 2007, 15:00 CST

With the forecast of more than 27 million passengers traveling on U.S. airlines during the Thanksgiving holiday season, Northwest Airlines (NYSE:NWA) is providing customers with travel tips to help ensure a pleasant travel experience.

Check-In:

-- Sign up for Northwest's free event notification system, "My NWA Info," on nwa.com to receive automated updates on the status of your flight.

-- To expedite the check-in process, check-in and print your boarding pass online at nwa.com within 24 hours of your flight or at Northwest's airport self-service check-in kiosks.

-- Travel with valid government-issued photo identification, such as a driver's license or passport.

-- Arrive early - at least 75 minutes prior to domestic departures, 120 minutes prior to international departures.

-- Be on board the aircraft at least 15 minutes prior to domestic departures (30 minutes in some locations) and 30 minutes for international departures.

Baggage:

-- All liquids in carry-on baggage must be packed in three-ounce or smaller containers that fit comfortably inside a clear, one-quart, zip-top bag. Additional quantities of liquids, gels or aerosols should be placed in checked luggage. See www.tsa.gov for more information.

-- NWA customers are limited to one piece of carry-on luggage plus one personal item, such as a laptop, purse or briefcase. More carry-on luggage information can be found at: www.nwa.com/travel/luggage/carryon.html.

-- Northwest accepts two pieces of checked baggage per customer, up to 50 pounds each, at no additional charge. Detailed checked baggage information can be found at: www.nwa.com/travel/luggage/checked.html.

-- Put identification, including your name and contact information, on both the inside and outside of each piece of luggage.

-- Place needed medication, keys and other critical items in carry-on baggage rather than checked baggage.

-- If carrying gifts, do not wrap them. TSA may need to examine the contents.

TSA Security Checkpoint:

-- Before arriving at the security checkpoint, place all metallic objects (loose change, keys, pens, cell phone, watch, camera) in carry-on baggage.

-- Remove shoes, coats and laptops when passing through security scanners.

-- If carrying toiletries in your carry-on luggage, place the clear, one-quart zip-top bag in a tray to be scanned separately.
