Los Andes Copper Ltd. (“Los Andes”, or the “Company”) (TSX VENTURE: LA)(PINK SHEETS: LSANF) announces results from the first seven holes of the phase II drilling program at the Vizcachitas Project in Chile.

All seven holes encountered significant sulphide mineralization including Hole LAV-88 that intersected 0.57% Cu and 0.008% Mo over 208.45 metres, including two higher grade intervals of 0.62% Cu and 0.61% Cu over 74.45 and 88 metres, respectively. Highlights from the remaining holes are listed in the table below. Drill hole location maps and sections can be viewed at the Los Andes website www.losandescopper.com.

Roger Moss, President and CEO of Los Andes commented as follows: “The initial results from our Phase II campaign have continued the success of the previous drilling. We are particularly pleased with the results on the western periphery and with the extension of the higher grade zone a further 100 metres to the southwest.”

Discussion of Results

LAV-82 was drilled to the northwest on section 900 NE and is the westernmost hole on this section. The whole intersected moderately altered andesite over the entire length. Alteration consists of predominantly biotite alteration, overprinted by weak to moderate quartz-sericite alteration in places. The higher grade interval grading 0.72% Cu and 0.013% Mo (0.81% CuEq(i)) intersected between 28 and 66 metres extends the zone of higher grade mineralization intersected in Holes LAV-68, 72 and 66 for an additional 100 metres to the south west. The zone, now traced over 300 metres, remains open to the southwest.

LAV-83 was also drilled to the northwest and tested the western edge of the mineralization on section 1500NE. The hole intersected weakly altered granodiorite below 15 metres of overburden to 121.85 metres. Diorite was intersected between 121.85 and the end of the hole at 250 metres and graded 0.47% Cu and 0.012% Mo (0.55% CuEq(i)) between 164 and 246 metres.

LAV-84 tested the western limit of mineralization on Section 1100NE and intersected 0.43% Cu over the 238 metre length of the hole below 12 metres of overburden, thereby extending the limit further to the west.

LAV-85 was drilled 100 metres to the north of LAV-84, and intersected 0.64% Cu over 140 metres including 0.86% Cu over 44 metres. These results extend the limit of mineralization to the west on section 1200NE.

LAV-86 is an infill hole drilled to the southeast on Section 1100NE. Weakly mineralized granodiorite and tonalite was intersected down to 257 metres. The remainder of the hole contained weakly altered andesite grading 0.52% Cu over 24 metres.

LAV-87 was drilled to the northwest, approximately midway between LAV-72 and LAV-84 and intersected alternating intervals of weakly quartz-sericite altered andesite and diorite.

LAV-88 was drilled to the northwest from the same setup as LAV-86. The hole initially intersected weakly altered granodiorite before passing into a contact zone of alternating granodiorite and andesite porphyry from 85.65 to 150.9 metres. The remainder of the hole consisted of alternating breccia and porphyritic andesite.

Roger Moss, Ph.D., P.Geo, is the qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101 for the Vizcachitas Project. Logging, sampling and splitting of the drill core is conducted at the Vizcachitas site by independent consultants Geologica LTDA. under the direct supervision of geologist Ramon Fam. Samples are securely transported by Geologica staff to the SGS Laboratory in Santiago Chile and analyzed for copper and molybdenum by atomic absorption following a three acid digestion. Los Andes routinely inserts standards and blanks into the sample stream and sends 5% of sample rejects to Actlabs for check analysis.

About Vizcachitas

The Vizcachitas Project offers potential for a low strip, open pit operation in an area of low elevation with excellent infrastructure, including water and power in central Chile. The Vizcachitas deposit occurs in the same metallogenic belt as the large copper-molybdenum porphyries Rio Blanco-Los Bronces, Los Pelambres-El Pachon and El Teniente. Based on 68 drill holes previously completed by General Minerals Corporation and Placer Dome, the project contains an indicated resource of 232 million tonnes grading 0.46% copper and 0.014% molybdenum and an inferred resource of 619 million tonnes grading 0.38% copper and 0.013% molybdenum at a 0.30% copper cutoff. At a 0.4% cutoff, indicated resources total 144 million tonnes grading 0.52% copper and 0.015% molybdenum and inferred resources total 211 million tonnes grading 0.46% copper and 0.016% molybdenum as detailed in the NI 43-101 compliant technical report of A.C.A. Howe International Limited dated February 7, 2007. The technical report, as well as additional information about the Vizcachitas Project is available on our website at www.losandescopper.com.
