CD Cargo (Czech Republic), state railway transporter, may merge with a similar firm ZSSK Cargo Slovakia (Slovakia). An important Central European railway goods transporter would be set up by the step. CD Cargo has a stock of CEK 9 bil and 13,000 employees. It transports over 80 mil t of goods/y and generates a profit of CEK 1.5 bil/y. The firm is the fifth largest railway goods transporter in Europe. ZSSK Cargo Slovakia has a stock of SOK 10.7 bil. It has 11,488 employees and transport s over 50 mil t of goods/y. In 2006 the firm saw a loss of SOK 1.9 bil.
