A Russian Air Force cargo plane carrying equipment to help the Kamchatka region cope with a power outage arrived Sunday.

The An-124 plane’s 80-ton load included a 68-ton transformer that will be used to ensure no further breakdowns at the Dachnaya power substation in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski, Itar-Tass reported.

A state of emergency was declared Nov. 22, after the largest power emergency in the region in the last 27 years left hundreds without power and heat for three days, the news agency said.

Temporary measures have restored power to all citizens, and the city is expected to switch back to a permanent power supply within the next 10 days, Russian First Vice Premier Sergei Ivanov said during a cabinet meeting.
