Siemens Receives Orders for Spanish Renewable Projects

Siemens Power Generation has received a major order from Spanish construction company ACS to supply 50 wind turbines with a capacity of 2.3MW each to be erected in four wind farms in Andalucia. The company has also received orders from Iberdrola and Solel Solar Systems.

The scope of the contract with ACS includes the supply, transport and installation of all 50 turbines. Furthermore, a five-year service contract is part of the order. Delivery of the wind turbines from Brande, Denmark, is scheduled to begin in February 2008.

ACS has also ordered an industrial steam turbine for the solar-thermal power plant Extresol I, to be built in southern Spain. Additionally, Siemens will supply steam turbines to Iberdrola and Solel Solar Systems of Israel for two further solar-thermal power plants in Spain. The total volume of all four orders is more than E170 million.

Randy Zwirn, a member of Siemens Power Generation's executive management, said: "Siemens has become a leading supplier of innovative renewable energy technology.
