Borrego Solar to Join Panel Discussion About Building and Financing Solar Power Systems at the Green California Schools Summit &Amp; Exposition

Posted on: Monday, 26 November 2007, 09:00 CST

Borrego Solar Systems, Inc., a leading designer and installer of commercial, residential and public sector grid-connected solar electric power systems, today announced that Chief Marketing Officer Mike Hall will participate in a panel discussion entitled "Touch the Sun: New Ways to Build and Finance Solar Power Systems" during the Green California Schools Summit & Exposition, December 4-6, 2007 at the Pasadena Conference Center in Pasadena, Calif.

Hall will join executives from Solar Power Partners, SunLink Corporation and the Laguna Beach (Calif.) School District to analyze how the recent innovations in construction methods, integration technology and financing options are helping more schools install solar electric systems. School construction in the U.S. is the largest category for all domestic construction projects (about $53 billion spent in 2007), and schools spend about $8.3 billion on energy annually, so the panelists will also discuss best practices for how schools can incorporate green building initiatives into their construction budgets and quell rising energy costs.

"When a school installs a solar electric system, the financial and educational benefits to students, facility, parents, taxpayers and the entire community are tremendous. These systems reduce a school's carbon footprint and energy costs while teaching students to be more environmentally conscious," said Hall. "Now, thanks to more advanced technologies, construction techniques and financing opportunities, it is easier for schools to 'go green' than ever before. I am excited to join this panel discussion to help demonstrate how any school can implement a solar energy system and enjoy its significant benefits."
