WORCESTER, MA, Nov. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- World Energy Solutions, Inc. (TSX: XWE), the operator of leading online exchanges for energy and energy-related products, today announced the City of Temple, Texas has completed its first auction on the World Energy Exchange. Leveraging World Energy's services in conjunction with the online reverse auction platform, City of Temple was able to secure a rate which was well below their budgeted energy cost increase of 15 percent for 2008, and 6.4% below the agreed upon market benchmark for the auction.

City of Temple Auction Highlights: - Six different suppliers provided 50 bids, driving the price down to a level which beat 2008 budget projections - Achieved price discovery for four different terms ranging from seven to 24 month contracts - Projecting $200,000 dollars of energy cost savings for 27 million kilowatts hours (kWh) per year Commentary & Quotes: Traci Barnard, Director of Finance, City of Temple

"Our previous energy procurement process was typical of most state and local government agencies - we worked through one bidder to secure a fair price. With the World Energy Exchange we were able to efficiently entertain offers from multiple bidders, ultimately securing a more aggressive price through the reverse auction. However, working with World Energy is about more than just the web-based platform and cost savings. We were able to leverage their services and market expertise throughout the process. From developing the transaction to addressing our requirements after the auction was completed, we were impressed with their commitment to our success."

Phil Adams, President, World Energy

"As energy costs continue to increase, government agencies are seeking a more efficient and cost effective means of procuring energy. By providing intelligence about the nuances of the energy markets and a proven means to achieve a competitive price, our government agency customers are able to be more proactive in the marketplace and achieve the cost savings and budget certainty they require."
