Zambian Airways to suspend Lusaka-Harare flights
LUSAKA, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) — Zambian Airways will suspend its daily services between Lusaka and Harare effectively Dec. 1 this year due to high fuel prices and extreme currency fluctuations in Zimbabwe, The Post reported Friday.
In a press release, Zambian Airways chief executive officers and chairman Mutembo Nchito said that the decision had been taken after reviewing the performance of the route for months.
“Zambian Airways regrets to advise the general public that it will be suspending its daily services between Lusaka and Harare from December 1,2007,” he said.
Nchito said that customers who were booked in advance for travel between Lusaka and Harare on December 1 would receive a full refund or get alternative flight arrangements.
He said Zambian Airways plan to carry a quarter of a million passengers across its network in the course of the coming year.
