Nigeria to build 8-bln-dollar LNG plant
LAGOS, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) — An 8-billion-dollar Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant would be built in Nigeria’s southeastern Akwa Ibom State, according to news reaching here on Sunday.
State governor Godswill Akpabio made the disclosure last week while speaking with local media at the Margaret Ekpo InternationalAirport in Nigeria’s Calabar City.
He said that the LNG plant would be built at Tom Short Island in the Mbo Local Government Area of the state.
“We are in partnership with an international organization basedin Greece to make our LNG dream come true,” he said, adding that the team of experts had visited Greece for preliminary discuss with the project partners.
Akpabio said that apart from boosting development in the Niger Delta region, the project would also generate employment opportunities.
The governor gave no more details about the projected plant.
