Production at the Sakhalin Energy consortium’s Vityaz complex offshore facility off the northeast Sakhalin coast has been suspended and the Okha floating storage and offtake vessel has been disengaged due to severe weather conditions.

The Gazprom-led consortium reported that during the reconnection of the Okha, it became apparent that the single anchor leg mooring (SALM) buoy at the Vityaz complex had suffered damage. The cause of the damage is now being investigated, the consortium said.

The damage to the SALM resulted in a small release of oil into sea. Oil spill response and other vessels are on hand to avoid the chance of a further release of oil, according to the company release.
