Alcatel and Hits Telecom Perform the First Call of Hits GSM Network

Alcatel-Lucent and Hits Telecom Uganda have performed the first call of Hits’s GSM network in Uganda.

Under the agreement, Alcatel-Lucent has supplied a full end-to-end GSM network as well as transmission solutions with microwave systems to dynamically optimize the transmission of voice and data traffic from the base stations to the core network.

Alcatel-Lucent was responsible not only for complete network design and deployment, including OSS/BSS integration, but also helped Hits Telecom Uganda manage and maintain the network by providing a suite of managed services. Alcatel-Lucent also supplied its IP routing solution to provide massive scalability and critical quality of service features while simultaneously reducing operational complexity.

Ahmed Darweesh Bin Dagher Al Marar, chairman of the board of Hits Telecom Uganda, said: “Hits Telecom is very proud to be in a position to initiate the very last phase of actions before the launch of the commercial services that will renew the face of telecommunication services in Uganda.
