Virgin America, the start-up airline partly owned by the U.K. billionaire Richard Branson, said it wanted to increase flights more than sixfold at New York’s Kennedy airport while rivals pare service.

U.S. regulators should let Virgin America add 15 round-trip flights annually at Kennedy for at least three years from the 8 it has now, said Brian Clark, vice president of planning and sales. The airline began flying in August.

Clark was scheduled to present Virgin America’s plan Thursday to a federal task force studying ways to ease delays at Kennedy airport.
