PTC'08 Honors Research Paper Award Winners

The Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC) is pleased to announce the winners of its 2008 research paper prizes. SANG WON LEE, Doctoral Student, Mass Communications, University of Florida, is awarded the O.S. Braunstein Prize for the best student research paper, entitled "The Determinants of the Global Broadband Deployment: An Empirical Analysis." The prize, valued at over $1700, offers $500 cash, conference registration, and up to $1000 for travel and accommodations. It is funded principally by Dr. Yale Braunstein, a long-time PTC member and son of the late O.S. Braunstein.
NIR KSHETRI, Assistant Professor, Bryan School of Business and Economics, University of North Carolina--Greensboro, is the first recipient of the Meheroo Jussawalla Research Paper Prize which recognizes the best overall participant research. Entitled "Looking at the Facts: What we Know (and Don't Know) about the Chinese Internet Protocol TV Market," the paper wins a cash prize of $1000. Named after international telecommunications scholar Meheroo Jussawalla, the prize is funded principally by Dr. Richard Taylor, Palmer Chair in Telecommunications Studies at the Pennsylvania State University and Affiliate Professor of Information Sciences and Technology.
Both winning papers will be presented at PTC'08, January 13-16 in Honolulu.
