Panda Energy Planning 1,000MW Texas Power Plant

Panda Energy has announced that it intends to build and operate a 1,000MW combined-cycle power plant in an industrial-zoned area of the city of Temple, Texas.
The natural gas-fueled generating station will use the latest in proven technology and will be able to supply the power needs of approximately 750,000 homes in the central and north Texas regions.
Air emissions at the facility will be controlled to among the very lowest of any power plant in Texas, a state which possesses some of the country's most stringent air quality standards. The facility will also maximize the use of reclaimed water to conserve the state's fresh water resources.
The facility has been strategically sited along the Texas half of the I-35 corridor, one of the 10 most concentrated, and rapidly growing, population centers in the US. Approximately 45% of Texas's 21 million citizens live within 50 miles of I-35.
Robert Carter, chairman and CEO of Panda Energy, said: "This plant will help meet the future energy needs of our growing state, strengthen the economy of central Texas and produce clean, low-priced electric power."
