Posted on: Thursday, 6 December 2007, 09:00 CST
Liberty Power, the fastest growing, independent energy retailer focused on business customers, today announced it has signed a 12-month contract with the Defense Energy Support Center (DESC) to supply an estimated 27,000 MWh of power to the Naval Warfare Center in West Bethesda, Maryland.
Since its formation over 50 years ago, the DESC's mission has been to provide the Department of Defense and other government agencies with comprehensive energy solutions in the most effective and economical manner possible.
As the only minority-owned, independent energy retailer with a national presence, Liberty Power has proven to be an attractive partner to firms that value supplier diversity. This procurement business program encourages the use of minority-owned and women-owned business enterprises as suppliers, in order to create a supplier base that reflects the profile of the market that is being served.
"Liberty Power is honored to serve the DESC and to welcome the Naval Warfare Center to our growing list of federal customers" said David Hernandez, CEO of Liberty Power. "We are proud to support the DESC not just in procuring the lowest-cost power, but also in helping it maintain its leadership role in the area of supplier diversity."
Liberty Power has a history of being a low-cost power provider to government agencies, large corporate and industrial partners -- the majority of these being Fortune 500 companies, and more than 25,000 small and medium-sized businesses. Liberty Power is one of only three national retail electric providers licensed in 15 or more states and is currently serving customers in ten markets.
