Help Is on the Way: Oncor Sends Crews North to Assist OG&E

DALLAS, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ — Oncor is responding to a request from Oklahoma Gas & Electric to help restore power following a devastating ice storm yesterday that worsened today, leaving 220,000 Oklahoma residents without power.

“When there is an emergency in the electric utility business, everyone pulls together to restore power. Oncor has benefited from the help of other utilities in the past; now it’s our turn to help get the lights back on in Oklahoma,” said Brenda Pulis, senior vice president, Oncor.

Oncor will send 114 employees to Norman tonight to support OG&E’s restoration effort in that area. A second wave of employees from West Texas may move out tomorrow, weather permitting. In addition, 117 Oncor utility construction and tree-trimming contractors will also accompany Oncor crews to Oklahoma. Oncor crews are traveling from 19 locations across the Oncor service area to Norman, Okla., where they will meet with OG&E personnel tonight.
