Hong Kong Express Airways to start direct flights to Nepal
KATHMANDU, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) — Hong Kong Express Airways is operating thrice-weekly direct flights between China’s Hong Kong and Nepali capital Kathmandu from December 13, 2007, becoming the eighth international air carrier to connect Nepal over the past 13months.
With the operation of Hong Kong Express Airways, which flies onTuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, there will be daily flight between Kathmandu and Hong Kong, as Dragon Air is flying four times a week on alternate days.
According to a press release of Nepal Tourism Board, daily flights to a great extent will cater to the growing traffic in this region. China’s Hong Kong is the potential emerging market for Nepal.
Foreign airlines are finding Nepal a sought-after destination among tourists as peace has returned to the Himalayan country. Thenumber of airlines offering services to Nepal has doubled during the last 13 months. Many airlines have expanded frequency, while some are in the process of doing so.
