The Natural Products Market Is Estimated to Some $56.8 Billion Within the United States

Posted on: Thursday, 13 December 2007, 12:00 CST

Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/c77315) has announced the addition of "The Natural Products Marketplace in the United States" to their offering.

This report covers sales of food and beverages, vitamins and minerals, herbs and homeopathic remedies, and general merchandise and beauty care through four channels: food, drug, mass merchandisers (FDM), and natural supermarkets. The natural products market is estimated to some $56.8 billion.

Natural products have shown strong gains in all segments. The vitamins and supplements segment showed the smallest gains over the last three years (2004-06), in part because that part of the industry has an especially strong private label component. In all other segments, growth over the three-year period was more than 20%.

"Natural" is defined with one or more of the following criteria:

-Certified organic under the USDA N.O.P. guidelines

-Contains only natural ingredients and is free of artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, and sweeteners

-Positioned as gourmet/specialty/premium/super premium and is also free of artificial ingredients

-"Naturally" positioned in its marketing, labeling, distribution in retail, and again is free of artificial ingredients

Segments include:

Contents:

-Body care

-Frozen and refrigerated

-General merchandise

-Grocery

-Packaged produce

-Refrigerated

-Vitamins & supplements, herbs and homeopathic
