Gamesa Energy USA Names Glenn E. Smith Vice President

Gamesa Energy USA today announced the appointment of Glenn E. Smith as Vice President.

In this role Smith will oversee 50 engineering, construction, technical and project development employees throughout the Gamesa facilities in the United States.

Glenn’s most recent experience has been in the area of project development and acquisitions for the unregulated affiliates of two electric utility holding companies — Unisource (the parent of Tucson Electric Power) and FPL Group (the parent of Florida Power & Light and FPL Energy). Smith began his career in the energy sector as an engineer in 1980. His experience also includes construction, financial analysis, and investment banking.

“Glenn’s 20 plus years in the energy sector make him a perfect fit for Gamesa,” said Julius Steiner, CEO of Gamesa Energy USA. “His vast experience in all facets of the energy field will be invaluable as Gamesa Energy USA works to expand the reach of sustainable wind energy.”

Smith began his career as a structural engineer and then shifted his focus to financial analysis of projects in the independent power business and later to power project financings, where his experience included lending, equity investments, and providing financial advisory services to project developers.

He received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Penn State University in 1979.

Gamesa is the world’s second largest manufacturer and supplier of technologically advanced products, installations and services in the technology for energy sustainability sector. Gamesa generates electric energy of renewable origin, essentially based on the promotion and running of wind farms, the manufacture of wind turbines and the providing of advanced services to the technology for energy sustainability sector.
