December 20, 2007
Repost This

Energy Partners, Ltd. (“EPL” or the “Company”) (NYSE:EPL) today provided an update on drilling operations.

The Company announced that the moderate risk, high potential Gulf of Mexico Shelf exploratory well, South Timbalier 214 #2, was drilled to its objective section and encountered sand, but did not see commercial hydrocarbons. The Company will recognize dry hole expense at a current estimate of $10.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2007 in connection with this non-operated 50% working interest well.

EPL is currently drilling a high risk, high potential well called La Posada in Vermilion Parish. The well experienced mechanical problems, and is currently being prepared for sidetracking at approximately 14,100 feet. Once sidetracked, the well will head to an intended total depth of 19,300 feet. EPL holds a non-operated 19% working interest in this prospect.

Founded in 1998, EPL is an independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Company’s operations are focused along the U.S. Gulf Coast, both onshore in south Louisiana and offshore in the Gulf of Mexico.
