Eneco to Construct Sustainable Energy System for Blaricum Municipality

Posted on: Monday, 24 December 2007, 09:00 CST

Netherlands-based utility Eneco Energie has been selected by the Blaricum municipality for the construction of a sustainable energy system at De Blaricummermeent. The objective of the system is to achieve a 25% reduction in CO2 with a heat-pump-based energy system that will provide heat, cooling and warm tap water.

An agreement confirming the cooperation between the municipality and Eneco has been signed under terms outlining - rate setting, construction activities, permits and the planning of the project.

The municipality has selected an advanced, sustainable energy supply using heat pumps for the underground storage of heat and cold. According to the plan, low temperature district heating in combination with heat pumps will provide the best opportunity to comply with the demands of the municipality.

Eneco said that it will be in charge of the construction of the collective source heat system and the corresponding distribution grid and the installation of individual heat pumps in each house.

Companies in the area are expected to acquire their own heat pumps. In addition Eneco will also be in charge of the operation, management and maintenance of the grid and the heat pump installations in homes.
