Dollar Down; Gold Up

LONDON – The U.S. dollar was lower against most other major currencies in European trading Monday morning. Gold prices rose.
The euro was quoted at $1.4713, down from $1.4714 late Friday in New York.
Other dollar rates compared with late Friday:
-112.01 Japanese yen, down from 112.78
-1.1245 Swiss francs, down from 1.1263
-0.9814 Canadian dollars, unchanged
The British pound was quoted at $2.0051, up from $1.9922.
Gold in London traded at $836.50 bid per troy ounce at midmorning, up from $836.45 on Friday.
In Zurich, gold traded at $834.45 bid per troy ounce, up from $833.30.
Silver opened in London at $14.83 per troy ounce, up from $14.75.
