Iran Launches Project to Supply Power to Border Posts on Northwestern Border

Text of report by Iranian state-run provincial TV from West Azarbayjan on 31 December

The governor-general of West Azarbayjan Province and a number of high-ranking provincial officials participated in the opening ceremony of a project on power supplies to border posts and police stations in Marmisho today.

The project on power supplies to these facilities includes 14 km of power lines and two air transformers. The border development headquarters have allocated a budget of 2.37bn rials [about 252,000 dollars] for the construction project.

Another speaker at the ceremony, the head of West Azarbayjan’s power distributing company said that 60 per cent of border stations have already been provided with power in the province.

He added that it is planned to supply power to all provincial border stations in the next two years.

The governor-general also visited the border village of Khanik. He answered local residents’ requests and urged provincial officials to take care of border residents as soon as possible.

Dr Qorbani promised to help residents with power and drinking water and supply power to the school in the village of Khanik.
