Prometheus Energy Announces Bowerman LNG Plant Achieves Production Targets
Posted on: Thursday, 3 January 2008, 12:00 CST
Prometheus Energy Company ("Prometheus"), an alternative and renewable energy company, announces its Landfill Gas ("LFG") to Liquefied Natural Gas ("LNG") production facility located at the Frank R. Bowerman Landfill in Irvine, California, has met and exceeded design capacity targets. The plant is currently running at over 70 percent of the design capacity of 5,000 gallons per day, and has exceeded design capacity for a number of periods.
The Company restarted the facility on December 8, 2007 following a planned outage to install certain new processing equipment to improve the drying and cleaning of LFG to the stringent purity levels required for liquefaction. The plant is operating consistently, with brief interruptions for continued tuning of the control system and related mechanical and process adjustments. The plant has produced LNG in 75% of all available production hours since re-start, and has been in continuous production for up to 140 hours at a stretch. By the weekend, approximately thirty thousand gallons of LNG will have been delivered since mid December.
With continued tuning of the control system and refining of operational procedures, the Company expects net LNG yields consistently to deliver design capacity and is working through a planned programme to achieve that objective.
Kirt Montague, Prometheus' CEO, said: "We are delighted that the modifications are complete and have had the desired effect. In just over three-weeks of production since re-starting the facility, we have demonstrated the plant's capability for both continuous production and design level output and we are encouraged by the implications this has for the plant's ability to deliver increased commercial volumes of LNG over 2008."
