Posted on: Friday, 4 January 2008, 12:00 CST

Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site in Paducah, Kentucky, that will improve its voice and data network in southeast side of Paducah, US Route 60 between Broad Street and the US Route 62/US Route 60 split, State Road 60 Business between Broad Street and the US Route 60/US Route 60 Business split and State Road 450 between US Route 60 and Interstate 24.

The new cell site is part of Verizon Wireless's effort to expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Kentucky and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $40 billion since it was formed - more than $5 billion on average every year - to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. More than $208 million of this investment was spent in Kentucky and southern Indiana.

Greg Haller, president of Kentucky/Indiana/Michigan region at Verizon Wireless, said: "Network reliability is the main reason that customers choose and stay with Verizon Wireless. Getting through on the first try and maintaining a connection are important to our customers. We continue to optimize our network so that it remains reliable."
