He Knew Which Way Wind Blew
Correspondent Dr Robin Wakeling (Dec 29) should not let his disillusionment with the Greens blind him to UnitedFuture leader Peter Dunne’s disingenuous posturing in the Electoral Finance Act debate.
Given the Greens’ readiness to go down with the ship, along with NZ First leader Winston Peters and his kamikaze caucus, Mr Dunne would have known full well that his about-turn vote would make no difference to the bill’s passing.
If he was as “politically savvy” as Dr Wakeling claims, he would have heeded his much-touted “public perception” back when it mattered, when thousands of us were marching in the streets. It’s amazing what nonsense some politicians think they can get away with when holiday time approaches.
