Flats Hit By Chip Pan Fire
January 7, 2008
FIREFIGHTERS were called to a high-rise block of flats when a chip pan caught fire.
Crews were called to Eslington Court, in Teams, Gateshead, when a blaze broke out on the 16th-floor of a 20-storey building.
The incident happened at 9pm on Saturday after a chip pan was left unattended.
No-one was injured.
The kitchen of the flat was 100% smoke dam aged.
Fire chiefs are reminding people of the dangers of chip pans and advising them to bin them and replace them with safer deep fat fryers.
