Delta Air Lines has announced that nonstop Delta flights between Atlanta and Edinburgh, Scotland, will operate seasonally between June 2, 2008 and October 1, 2008, and will complement new year-round service between Edinburgh and New York-JFK, beginning May 1, 2008.
With the return of the Atlanta-Edinburgh route, Delta will offer customers nonstop access to 31 trans-Atlantic destinations via its Atlanta hub, including new flights to Lagos, Nigeria, London-Heathrow and Stockholm, Sweden.
The company has also reported that, it has added another Learjet 45 to its fleet, continuing to expand their number of charter aircraft in response to increased customer demand. This late-model aircraft will be based in Tulsa, Oklahoma and will serve both fleet members and charter customers. The aircraft will be flown under Delta AirElite's FAR Part 135 operating certificate.
Bob Cortelyou, Delta's senior vice president for network planning, said: "Delta looks forward to another record year of international traffic via our Atlanta hub thanks to the addition of more new destinations around the globe for our customers. From Europe to Africa to Asia to South America, Delta covers the globe in any direction from Atlanta, with flights slated to more than 80 international destinations next summer."
