Suez Group-owned offshore and onshore contractor Fabricom Oil & Gas and Total E&P Nederland have signed a framework agreement for detail engineering and construction works on the 21 offshore production platforms belonging to the French energy giant Total in the Dutch sector of the North Sea.
The contract covers a period of five years, with an option for extending the agreement by three years. Fabricom said that the new contract strengthens its position in the Dutch offshore market. Fabricom has previously signed a maintenance contract for these platforms in July 2007.
Fabricom will become a partner for project management, detail engineering, work preparation, procurement, prefabrication, offshore installation and pre-commissioning. Total E&P Nederland will retain the responsibility for the studies and basic engineering as well as the purchase of specific materials.
Arno Poppel, Fabricom's managing director, said: "Within the budget agreed, Total E&P Nederland is giving us responsibility for the detail engineering, the execution and the planning of the various projects and subprojects. This is a sign of confidence that we are well able to work together in handling the total package of activities."
